Introduction
Since the 1860s, Castro Street has served as Mountain View's
downtown district. Generations of Mountain View residents have
left their mark on the area's architecture. Downtown is home to a
concentration of historic structures, making it an area of special
interest for MVPA.
The city is in the process of updating the Precise Plan
which guides the redevelopment of the Downtown. We offer this section
of our web page as a resource for those interested in learning more
about Downtown's historic structures, and what the Precise Plan update
means for their future. MVPA has important suggestions for changes to
the Downtown Precise Plan that would help save historic resources. Please
see the Current Issues
section for details on our thoughts on the Precise Plan, or browse through
the other two sections to learn more about Downtown's historic properties.
