Downtown Mountain View is home to dozens of historic buildings which
define the area's unique atmosphere and charm. Many of these buildings
are currently protected under the city's Interim Urgency Ordinance for
Historic Preservation.
However, a thorough study of Downtown's historic architecture has
never been conducted. As a result, many potentially historic structures
in Downtown have not been identified. Likewise, the histories of those
that are protected by the ordinance have never been fully studied.
The following is an attempt to offer a more complete listing of the
heritage buildings located in the Downtown Mountain View precise plan
area.
