This
is a page from an early 1930s Mountain View High School year book.
It shows Moffett Field just after opening in 1933. Most of the
buildings seen in this picture still stand today. The road going
through the left corner of the picture is Highway 101 back when it
was known as the Bayshore Road. Moffett Field grew to become an
important factor in the growth of Mountain View and the aerospace
and later high tech industries of the Silicon Valley.
Plans
to convert the field into a premier educational and research
institution run by NASA could prove to have equally great impacts on
the future of Mountain View.
