This
photo shows the Rengstorff Mansion at its temporary location in
Shoreline Park after it was moved from its original location on
Stierlin Road. Built in 1868, the Rengstorff Mansion is the oldest
house in Mountain View. Citizens rallied to save the house in the
1970s. The house had been extensively vandalized and many thought
that taking on its restoration would be an impossible task.
It
sat at this spot in Shoreline Park from 1980 to 1986, and was then
moved to its present location. It opened to the public in 1991 as a
history house museum.
