On
October 20, 1987, one of the most important landmarks ever built in
our city, Mountain View High School on Castro Street, was
demolished. It had been closed five years earlier, when the district
decided to split Mountain View residents living north of El Camino
Real amongst Los Altos and Awalt (now Mountain View) High Schools.
Here, Hal Partelow, a teacher at the school from the 1960s until its
closure, watches as it is demolished.

Melena and is from the Library's Archives.
