The
Kalcic Orchard, located on Ferguson Road, was one of the last
undeveloped agricultural areas in the city. Together with the
Francia Orchard, Mountain View's last productive orchard, it formed
a band of open space in the Whisman District of the city. The new
light rail line runs through the two properties on its way between
Moffett Field and Downtown Mountain View giving riders a glimpse
into the area's rural past. The
Kalcic Orchard was cleared to make way for a new high tech office
park, but the project was postponed due to the current economic
recession.
