Architectural Description
A large example of historic architecture built in the Vernacular Eclectic Style. Distinguised by steeply pitched roof, several bay windows, and a large sheltered porch with a balustrade

Historical Significance
This home is one of the largest and oldest historic homes in this neighborhood, and has changed very little since it was first built. The home was originally owned by Reverend Hampton W. Cottrell, then president of the Pacific Press Publishing Company on Villa Street and leader of Mountain View's early Seventh Day Adventist community.

The property also features original landscaping elements including an elaborate wrought iron fence. The home has been declared eligible for the California State Register of Historic Resources due to its architectural style and high artistic value.

The current owners had originally planned to demolish the house and build two new homes. After opposition from neighbors and MVPA, new plans have been submitted that call for the renovation of the house. MVPA is following this development proposal closely. For more information e-mail Nick Perry
